During a press screening of Saving Silverman, The Collegian got to have a one-on-one interview with the young actress Amanda Detmer, whose credits include Final Destination, Boys and Girls, Saving Silverman and will be playing the lead role in Jim Carrey’s next film, The Majestic, which has just begun filming!

Collegian: In the movie, Saving Silverman, did you do all of your own stunts?
Detmer: Yes, its all me.  I had stunt doubles, but I insisted on doing everything myself.

Collegian: Who do you want to work with the most in a film or project?
Detmer: I really want to work with Jessica Lange the most.  There’s just something about her!

Collegian: What was the best movie you saw this past 2000-year?
Detmer: Erin Brokovich, definitely.

Collegian: How did you get along with you co-stars of Saving Silverman?
Detmer: Great! I love Jason Biggs to death! We hang out a lot!

Collegian: Now that you’re a big celebrity, how have you been handling your fame? Do you get noticed a lot in public?
Detmer: To be honest, I don’t get recognized that much yet, so there’s nothing to handle. But I’ve sen it with Jason Biggs and it’s weird!                 

Collegian: Ever thought of directing or writing for the screen?
Detmer: No, but I think I’d like to produce!

Collegian: Ever thought of doing a sci-fi or a fantasy, like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter?
Detmer: Actually, I did try! I read lines for Lord of the Rings and I am currently reading Harry Potter.  I would love to get in to the Star Wars movies, thought!

Collegian: One more question, what advice do you have for those who are aspiring to become actors and actresses?
Detmer: Do it because you can’t imagine being happy doing anything else!
