Movie Review: Enemy at the Gates                                                          By Michael Fontana       4/20/01

"Enemy at the Gates” based on a true story of a Russian solider who must risk his life to save his country from the Germans during WWII.  This movie takes place in Stalingrad that is about to fall to the Germans.  This epic is about a young Russian sharpshooter, Vassili (Jude Law), who becomes a legend when a savvy political officer makes him the hero of his propaganda campaign in order to save Russia.  Their friendship is threatened when both men find out that they are both in love with the same woman (Rachel Weisz).  As the city begins to fall, Vassili faces his ultimate challenge when the command dispatches its most elite marksman (Ed Harris) to hunt down and kill the man who has become the hope of all Russia.  Their fierce and astonishing duel will help shape the course of history.

It looks like that they really spent the time a money of making the film as accurate as best they could.  both the actors and crew had to deal with the brutal cold while filming.  but I think it paid off at the end.  So go check out this new motion picture.
